Let Girls Learn was launched by former First Lady Michelle Obama in 2015. “Michelle Obama’s message of educating women to make sure they’re valued in their communities is very important to me,” Emma said. “Let Girls Learn has been an important part of my life, so my birthday seemed like a good opportunity to contribute to the organization.”.

Emma is an accomplished singer who won the 2016 South Bay Teen Idol competition that’s held annually at the Addison-Penzak Jewish Community Center in Los Gatos. Other performers include Los Gatos High School junior Devon Schreiner, who took second place in the 2016 Teen Idol competion, 2017 Teen Idol winner Sophie Huang, Los Gatos Ballet dancer Elizabeth Anderson and others.

In addition to entertainment, the event features light appetizers, refreshments, a silent auction and a raffle, “We have gift certificates for the Lexington House, Nick’s Next Door, Jennifer Croll, Lolli & Pops and Testarossa Winery,” Emma said, “We also have a ballet art print ballet point shoes kids print ballerina nursery ballet pink kids print Rolling Stone magazine autographed by Harry Stiles from One Direction, a three-month membership to the Jewish Community Center and weekend vacation homes in Capitola and Santa Cruz.”, The show, auction and raffle are all set for 6-8 p.m., Emma said, A DJ will be spinning tunes from 8 to 10 p.m, so everyone can dance the rest of the night away..

Emma, who’s a member of the Los Gatos Youth Commission, said organizing the “Night of Stars” is simply a case of “following my joy.”. “It gives me a sense of purpose, and working with my friends to make it happen is so much fun.” Emma said. “We know we’re fortunate to be in Los Gatos and we realize there are millions of girls who aren’t in school, so we want to use our Los Gatos High School education to change that.”. The Feeding the Soul Foundation is responsible for ensuring that 100 percent of the money raised goes to Let Girls Learn.
