Artist's description:This painting is based on the fabulous Mikaela Maree Stewart who dances professionally in San Diego. I wanted the gold leaf to throw the painting into relief. Gold leaf used to be used in the paintings of icons, and this is the first of a series I will be creating using golf leaf gilding. Be aware when buying this that you will need to hang it carefully as the gold is very reflective and the lighting must be correct for the painting to be appreciated. I've tried to show this in the photos. The gold is applied with special gilding glue, and tries textured not smooth.I was very drawn by the angles Mikaela creates with her feet and have painted three works based on this composition.The painting itself it framed in a painted wood frame, custom made for this artwork. Its broken gold/black with a cold rim. The artwork was created using artist quality oils on MDF board and comes without glass- which allows the paint to breath and remain healthy.What is Gold Leaf?Gold leaf is gold that has been hammered into thin sheets by goldbeating and is often used for gilding. SV Pride hosts parade, festival: The South Bay’s LGBT community will celebrate Silicon Valley Pride with a parade bookended by two festivals this weekend.
